I know I'm going to get blasted for this. If he is considering the Chinese bike because its cheaper he could look at the Honda CRF250L. Its cheaper than the KLX and its fuel injected.

 

OP, is your buddy buying used or new?

 

Will agree, it's better to buy a name brand, than these chinese POS's.

 

Hey guys thanks a lot for the replies! I guess all of our reasoning worked because tomorrow he will be the proud owner of a new 2012 klx250s! and very soon I'm sure he will be a member of this forum! ITNANTI I mentioned the crf250l too but I think he really liked my klx so he went with that!

Unfortunately I think I jyxned my buddy by saying he was going to get that KLX. He made a down payment but got denied kawi financing so now he has to wait til winter to buy it. Dang college sucking up money and credit scores...

He actually found a pretty cheap and good condition 200 super sherpa I don't really know anything about this bike but it looked pretty nice to me. Only thing I didn't like was aircooling, but that's not really a big deal.

 

The Super Sherpa is a nice bike. They are a 250 not a 200. It has the same bore and stroke as a XT250. I wouldn’t worry about it being air-cooled. Less stuff to go wrong. Put on a MX style fender and it would be a great bike. It might even have more low end torque than the KLX.
