My question is, would he have been better off had he stayed on the bike? Or do you think his legs cushioned his impact by breaking, rather than sending all that up his spine? Seems like when I see jumps go bad the riders bail, do they know something I don't?

Good question, i think i would be happy that i didnt break my back.... he could have had neck or back injuries staying on the bike..... who knows thougth...

i think definitely he should have stayed on the bike, the suspension would have absorbed more than his legs would have and been softer than the ground. look at doug henry's landing a few years back, he was higher than this guy and he stayed on the bike. there's also a wreck somewhere out in the desert where a guy flies like forever and lands with the bike.

There is absolutely no question that it's far better to land on the bike than on your legs.
The bike has suspension, your legs don't... That guy might have walked away if he tried to save it. Ouch.

Unless your bike isn't going to land tire side down... I think I'd be clinging on to that thing like stink on shiite.

Perhaps you would only break, half the bones instead of all of them.
