Brake reservoir cap retaining screw size ?

Anyone know what the size of those tiny little crap screws that hold the brake reservoir cap on is ? Went to bleed my brakes for a track day this weekend and ended up stripping out the heads due to the soft metal

I might be able to match them at fastenal tomorrow, but I didn't know if anyone had a better solution than stupid philips head screws.

Thanks.

Screw size is M4x.7-12 if anyone else has this happen to them. Found a box of 12 so I should be good for a while even if they continue to get chewed up. Might try to find a better solution down the road with allen or torx bit heads if possible.

I bought the allen head countersunk cap screws from Fastenal for that purpose. Put them in the reservoir cap on the Zephyr, now I need them in the KLX, the heads on them are stripped. They aren't too expensive and fit a bunch of other bikes. Get the bright zinc plated, the black oxide will rust REAL fast. They're the equivalent of bare steel.

That is exactly what I need. I'll have to swing by fastenal at some point and see if I can pick some up along with some float bowl replacement allen head screws for the KLX and the 600.

Why in the world they thought philips head screws were a good idea in these applications I will never know.

They work well with machine assembly.

They sure beat straight slot screws!

You really need JIS tip T-Handle screwdrivers for Jap bikes. It’s the only way to go. Rocky Mt has the best prices on the Motion Pro ones. It’s all I’ve used for the passed 35 years. You’ll never strip out a Phillips head screw on your bike again....;)

Less cost buying a bag of countersunk allen heads at Fastenal. Put 'em in all the bikes. Here is the listing I don't remember how long the fasteners are, but dirt cheap -
Flat socket cap screws
