Default Best Tire Irons?

Wondering what the prevailing opinion is regarding the most preferred brand/type/length of tire irons for the KLX?

I've got a Nelson Rigg fender bag in which I'm hoping to keep the irons (along with extra tubes, spark plugs, etc). The bag is 11" in length so I'm hoping there's a reputable set of irons that will fit. But I'm willing to carry them in backpack if length is a issue.

TIA

And 3 is way better than just 2.

I have the motion pro as well. They are puny but quality. Wear eye protection, I almost took out my nephew's eye, ZING!
I also have one of these, like a third hand.

Yeah, the bead breaker/holder is also very helpful. I forgot about that thing, probably because it lives in the bottom of my tank bag waiting for a flat...

So the whole idea of carrying tire irons is so that you can change your tube on the trail. You can't do that if you can't get the axle nut off. I carried a set of the motion pros that MaximusPrime mentioned for years...until I actually had to use them. I had a tube, as set of irons and no way to get the tire or anything else off and no way to inflate it. (the stock KLX tool bag sucks.) I put those irons in the roll away and added a set of motion pro T-6 spoons in my fender bag and an aerostich 12V air pump in my bag. I now have a wrench to fit the axle shaft, the nut, the rim lock and the front axle nut.

All that being said. I'd also recommended you change your tube in your garage with only the tools you have on your bike. That way you'll know exactly what you're going to need on the trail.

This exercise would have saved me from a whole day of walking and trailering my bike home...just sayin.

what he said. I got my KLX used so I don't know if the wrench was missing or never there. anyway, I carry the MP spoons that have the axle nut sizes on them. 2 in 1 tools save weight, especially when you can leave the factory lump behind. they are short, but work fine on most tires if your technique is good. on extended tours I carry a 3rd iron thats longer because sometimes you need that leverage. and ya, the Bead Buddy is way worth it. I also have a tool to pull the stem through the rim. it threads in where the valve core lives & is attached to a cable. I made it but I think there is a commercially made one though

Fantastic input. Thanks everyone who took the time to offer advice. This place is great.

Doc: curious exactly which T6 spoons you have? What size or sizes of "wrench" did you opt for?

klxnoobie: similar question, what size wrenches did you get. I see there are quite a few options.

I have 3 - a 27mm, 22mm, and a combination 12/13mm. I also carry the original 17mm, 10mm and the spark plug wrench. That will get me through tubes and a

plug. If I remember correctly, I had to buy the spoons from two different places because they didn't offer all the sizes motion pro made.

Since I had the room and I saw mixed reviews on the CO2 style inflators, I went with the Aerostich 12V inflator that plugs into my battery charging cable. If you go that route, be sure to "upsize" the fuse in your cable. Like I said, try this stuff first in your garage. As soon as I turn on the pump it immediately blew the fuse in my pig tail and I had to go one size larger, which is still plenty of protection for the size of the wire.
