Axle nut sizes????
A boring question for you gents.Since my bike is overseas I can't peruse what bolt sizes are on the axles (front and rear). I'd like to order one of those axle wrench combos to lighten my toolbelt, can someone help me please with sizes
.
Thank you.
.Thank you.
17 - 27 mm. I have the Tusk racer axle wrench from www.rockymountainatvmc.com $9.99.
MMatz - Thank you for your respomse. I checked Rocky mountain and they are backordered, but thank you for the link, great price!! I'll find 'em elsewhere now[8D].
EMS I did a search on axle nut and it pulled up two threads not ocvering what I needed. You are correct though in that people should search before asking.
Thanks guys!!

Its cool guys, if i knew off the top of my head i would have told ya, but i couldnt remember.... i just said it cause alot of the new guys dont use it and it seems like the same questions constantly get asked..... [&:] its all good
Just for completeness...
Rear - right side... 27mm
Rear - left side..... 22mm
Front - right side.. 17mm
Front - axle clamp 10mm
I bought a pair of Motion Pro T6 combo levers - one 27mm and one 22mm.
They are very light aluminum and they double as tire levers. Great tools, but not very cheap.

Alright, I've got an axle nut question for you jokers. This probably falls into the "dumb question" category, but I'll stick my neck out anyway.
I know that the right rear nut size is 27mm and the left is 22mm. I was planning on buying the Tusk 27/17 axle wrench, but then I got to thinking about what I would do to hold the left side if I had to pull the rear axle off on the trail. The way I look at it, there are 3 questions to answer that would yield the answer:
1. Is there a 22mm socket already in the mini-toolkit that came with the bike? Ihaven't checked and I'm at work.
2. Does the left side hold well enough that I can loosen the right side without a tool actually holding the left? I don't think this is possible, but I thought I would ask. Every time I have removed the rear axle in my garage, I have put a 22mm socket on the left side and and 27mm socket on the right. I crank it down pretty good so I doubt I would be able to break the nut loose with just a 27mm on the right side if I were stuck on the trail.
3. Do I need to pack my own 22mm. I realize that this is probably my answer. If it is, is anyone aware of a compact 22mm tool aside from just a spare 22mm open end wrench or something similar.
Thanks.

Hi Chris,
No 22mm supplied with the factory tool kit. I carry a 22/24mm from an old tool kit and it fits in with the factory bag, otherwise An 8" cresent wrench would be a great multi purpose option. If you are going to carry the Tusk (or similiar) axle tool it will not fit in the factory fender bag nor will tire irons. An inexpensive solution is the Tusk front fender bag that comes with two tire irons. Plus I bought a Moose rear fender at the same time and have mounted it on the luggage rack.
