In NASCAR, Jeff Gordons chevy is not one that you can go buy and drive off the showroom floor.

OK I'm not actually going to ask the extrememly dumb question. But the question that begs (after the big ol' HELL NO!) is how far from stock are the 450c and 250cc class bikes?

Perhaps this is not a KLX250S question. But the race is tonight!!!

I have no direct knowledge of what mods are done on the factory bikes, but I think the 250's are way more modified w/regard to engine work than the 450's are. They need to be to get the most power out of them whereas the 450's already put out plenty, for the most part.

I'd say that the suspension is where the high dollar work is done, especially for SX.

Maybe JasonFMX has some insight here, I think he was in the business for some time.

 

My pops and I were supposed to go riding today but I woke up late and when I finally called him up he said he was going to the races with my mom. Damn Supercross taking away my riding time...

Oh well, going to ride Rubidoux solo tomorrow. :P

 

I heard that the full factory bike are anywhere from 60K-100K so just imagine the mods. Obviously some of the parts aren't available to the public. Just the suspension alone is worth 10K.

 

They really cost that much???

Wow, those are some intense bikes. I'd love to ride one even though I know I wouldn't be able to fully utilize it's capabilities.

To answer your question..........more mods than you can imagine. Its about like you said with car racing....what does JG drive? A Monte Carlo? Ummmmmm yeah right. Theres NOTHING Monte Carlo about that. It doesn't even look like one let alone contain the internals of one.

Its near the same with a SX/MX bike. They have the same plastic as a stock one, and they have most of the shells of a stock bike (and alot of those are modded too), but the internals are almost all modded.

You should see whats inside those factory rigs. You could build a fleet of bikes with the spare parts in there.
