For All Who Says You Can't Wheelie A Stock KLX250S

This is not my video. I requested him to do a wheelie tutorial video and to my surprise he did just that. I asked him for permission to post on this forum and he gave me the go ahead. Watch and be amazed :D

OK...a wheelie...OK. But I'm glad I watched this vid because there was an ad at the bottom I'd never seen before...."Meet a nice Chinese lady to warm your feet at night". Y'all excuse me while I do a little internet link search.:D

Obviously technique is all it is. I can pop the front up but have never practiced enough to nail down the balance point. Watch the wheelie at 5:32 , you can see his shadow next to him, and get a double view of what is going on.
Thanks for posting up Maui

Yeah but yanking back on the bars like that can have a tendancy to jerk the bike to either the left or the right. Much better to be neutral on the bike and torque or clutch it up, obviously not as easy to do on the stock bore but thats why i put in the 331 kit. :D

How many times is that guy gonna hit the turn signal button? I lost count. Must be a nervous twitch or something.

I'm constantly poking my turn signal button. It really messes me up when I switch bikes.

Very good.:)

Right, I am constantly hitting mine. I don't have indicators on my "dash" and never know for sure if I have my signal off. Hitting the button makes sure they are off. I think its a good habit.

Anyone go out and try his technique? If so, how was it?

I tried but I can't get the front wheel up without clutching it up. Maybe just more practice time but I'm definitely getting better.

I'm learning how to wheelie (not good at it yet) so good video to watch

go cytocis 09-30-2012 06:28 PM

I have seen guys wheelie everything from a scooter to a fully dressed Harley; I have no doubt that a stock KLX can be wheelied

yankee99 10-01-2012 03:27 PM

I still say the stock klx can not do clutchless wheelies. I want to do power wheelies not jump on the bike like a circus acrobat. I have no doubt that if i stand and yank the bike back this will work.

My dtracker can get the front up with quick deceleration then quick acceleration with a pull on the bars. This is with 13/39 and cam mod. It does not go very high but i've only tried a
few times.

At the right rpm my stocker would pull the front with no clutch.

MaximusPrime 10-02-2012 01:49 AM

Thanks for the comment about waiting for 5:32 in the video.
I think my problem so far has been that I pull up more than shift my weight back suddenly. And that's just what Maui's buddy does, just to get it to lift. Then he pulls back in. Brilliant demo!
I once rode with my college roommate 120 miles to see his uncle. He outweighs me by 50 lbs at least. And I could wheelie throttle only with him on there. And I know, because I had tried to wheelie my EX-500, and you couldn't twist the throttle and make it wheelie, UNLESS you put some weight out back. My Ducati would wheelie throttle only, I just never really let it get more than 6" off the ground(that kind of power from out of a turn onto a straight, well...it scares the crap outta me and I love it all the same).
I got the bounce already, it's just the weight shift I'm missing.
Gotta throw on the armour on and try that, once I get my bike back, but that is another story(might be the shortest ride report ever, really need to bond with my carb).

MauiBoy808 10-08-2012 07:41 AM

Anyone getting this technique down? Better at wheeling in general after watching this?

johnping2001 02-16-2013 11:16 PM
