airbox ?

With my airbox cover off in sandy conditions , how much sand gets into filter area? Anyone know?

Some gets in, I am a little wary about it and am thinking of putting the lid back on with maybe a big snorkle.
In dusty conditions the top of the filter seems to get way more dirty than the rest. The bike wasnt designed to not have a lid and so the airflow wasnt considered by the engineers.

lol.....she's happy in da sand ;)

She's not buried, if I stop to take a break or pic, I just gasss it a little and hold the front brake....burries the rear a little so the bike will stand by itself...kickstand don't work here mostly.....to get out ..... just put her in 2nd,gas it and drop the clutch. :D

Do you have any extra protection on the front of the top of the airbox like foam strip or anything?
i was thinking that may help the kind of riding I do

Usually Nothin Kiwi.....but in N Fl, when it's dry, the real fine sand and clay spots tend to clog up my k&nfaster than I like......sometimes I put a precut piece of their prefilter fabric over the box....don't do it often but it works good and seems to make the filter last a lot longer.

BTW K&N's are not good filters.....just ask anyone on the internet. ;)
