Afternoon ride
 

Nicest day all week today. 50+ degrees and no rain, had been cold and rainy all week. I had been scouting the area around me using bing.coms birds eye aerial views. I found an abandoned rail line to the south of me, so I headed out to check it out in person.

Found the spot I was looking for. Looks like it's maintained so the snowmobiles can use it in the winter.

Bridge was out here so the trail drops off the rail bed and fords the creek. It wasnt a big creek but the water was a good foot deep and really moving pretty quickly. The bottom was rocky though, so I got through easily.

I was only gone for a few hours, but it was a nice little ride on a beautiful fall day.

i want to ride back east so bad. the idea of snowmobile trails for me is wild out her in the desert, bet the single track is prime.

Thanks guys. PE you've got it pretty good out there, it's very hard to find anywhere to ride around here. Youve got to go to small OHV parks and pay to ride with a crowd of people, or wait to ride in the organized rides. The organized rides are a blast and have some real good trails, but they are generally only put on once a year. Right now is prime time for the organized dual sport rides, I'm riding in two in the next two weeks. :)

Mike, I might have forgot to look for those No Tresspassing signs. :D

Ya , corn is done, problem is all the rain we've had lately is keeping the farmers from getting into their fields to pick it. That is affecting some of the dualsport rides coming up. Farmers will let the clubs use their empty fields to link together some good wooded areas. Farmers are a little more wary of letting 200-300 dirtbikes go ripping around when they still have crops in the fields. Last year at the leaf river ride during the riders meeting they stressed and stressed to please be courteous of the private property, and crops. All it takes is one farmer backing out to put the kabosh on a good trail.
