Aftermarket replacement shrouds
does anyone have any knowledge if any of the other Kawi shrouds would work for the 250? I wanted to get new plastics but dont want to pay the kawi prices.

Nope... noone makes aftermarket plastics for the KLX... the only thing you can get is the MX rear fender.
|
Eric...didn't you replace the front fender with a Hybrid? Some sort of two tone fender?

I feel your pain, I replaced the right side shroud at a cost of 72$ and the bike didn't even fall over. Major glass jaw. Perhaps the unabiker guards would have helped?

Is there any easy way to repair sun damaged plastics? Person that had the bike before me must have kept it outside. Thought it might be more appealing to a new owner with shrouds that didnt look so worn and faded....

If anyone is interested, a little armor all goes a long way. The shrouds on my bike were looking pretty faded. Two treatments of armor all and they have looked beautiful for several weeks. Arguably not new but no longer an eyesore either....

But seriously, you are not the only one. My front fender is turning more white than green. With it being a off-road/daily commuter bike, as long as the plastics do what they were designed to do, I don't really care for color. |
Fwiw, the kx250f front fender is a pratical bolt on. It will need 2 small washers under the back 2 bolts so it doesn't hit the frame. It also makes the bike more updated looking, getting rid of the kdx style fender.

The shrouds are the biggest problem I've encountered. They stick so far out the sides of the bike, it makes it easy to hook them on branches etc. They really stick out much farther than most bikes. Different fenders will fit, nothing even close for a substitute for the shrouds. Also the UnaBiker radiator guards are only made to encase the radiators. They protect the radiators very well but are not meant to reinforce the shrouds. I have broken shrouds with the unibiker guards on.
