Safe to run 93octane in my 2010 klx250sf ?
Any noticeable performance increases ?
Any negatives ?
Thanks

I run 91 in mine. I think it runs better.

Higher octane burns slower to combat detonation/preignition.

That'd be about the only reason to use it?

I think it is just a waste of money, the higher the octane, the more anti-knock resistant it is. I've ran all grades in my bike and I found no difference, also it burns hotter so it requires more engine cooling. I run 87 in my bike, just my 2 cents.

Running 91 or 93 octane in an engine designed to operate on 87 or 89 octane will not cause higher temps in the engine. Google "will higher octane fuel run hotter?" It will explain it better and shorter than I will.

No advantage, no damage. It's your money, waste it as you see fit!

I run 89 in mine since I put the big bore kit that added a bit more compression and it seems to run a bit better in the hot summer months vs using 87. Have not seen any difference with 91 or higher.

On my ninja that calls for 91 or higher though I made the mistake of trying 87 in it once, I didn't think I was going to make it home the engine was running so poorly and knocking.

Pull up behind a sports car at the gas station, make sure they put in 91, pay for 87 (single pumps approx 1 gallon is whatever last guy pumped) and feel like a boss

I think its probably important to point out that different regions of the world use different octane rating schemes at the pump so numbers will not directly compare across different regions.

In the US we have whats termed as "Anti-Knock Index" which is RON+MON/2
