7k RPM at 60mph safe?

There's this OHV area I like to ride to.. Between me and it is about 6 miles of county road, and ~2 miles of highway.. I get going 60mph on the highway, at 6th gear, and it about gets there to 60 when I'm at 7k rpm.. Is this safe for the bike to remain steady at 7k for that long? What do yall's bikes take to get there? ... It stays at 7k for about 2 minutes.. hence 60mph.. 2 miles, but I try to let off the throttle every now and then to at least have it fall back a little, like 6.5k..

7k is simply the upper midrange. Redline is 10,500 RPM. No problem running 7k..

I agree. That engine will turn 7000 plus all day long.

Obviously your schpraughkets were setup by a farmer that mistook a KLX for a tractor..

Heck, sometimes I look at my KLX and mistake it for a long distance Sport Adventure Tour Bike, that's currently just missing the Adventure Tour Bike part... and the long distance part..

Since the majority of the KLX power output occurs 6.5k to 8.5K, perhaps you've mistaken your KLX for a moped..?

Hahaha! Yes, I actually do drive a tractor, and i've ridden a moped :p. Just a bit paranoid is all, all my summer earnings went into buying my bike haha! ... from what you said I'll start allowing myself some more freedom with the revs

I ride local to me interstates at 6500-7500+ rpm no problems with my 16000 mile 2009 SF.
