Default 75/25 bike

I just put a set of TMs on my bike. 250s. They work well offroad, but like everyone said " you can watch them wear out driving on the slab." I cruise around town alot... I'm not riding off road as much as I thought I would. A second set of rims would be awesome but I'm jjjust a blue collar paramedic living paycheck to paycheck. But when I do go out riding it's nothing but nasty single track with sandy hills. Stuff that my old YZ 250 would have to stretch it's legs on, WOT. Kinda would like to take the bike to ******* which is about 70 miles. 10 miles of that it interstate 70mph stuff. The TMs kinda make me nervous about indicated 55. Would a 606 work better than the TM for what I'm talking about. I don't do anything really crazy, so i've never felt uncomfortable cornering with the TMs. I'l eventually try the trip, i've got 150 miles on the TM and I can already tell it's only goin to last 500 miles. Always thinking of changing things... can't help it.

The 606s are great. I have always been a dirt rider/racer so I want the traction but I find myself riding to work, and then taking extra little trips on the road, just more road riding than I thought. The 606 is wearing very slowly. It gets warm. Like when you get home you can feel that the tire has heat from the flexing. More so in the rear, the front looks like it will last a long time on-road.

The Dunlop 606 is still my fav tire. However there is no perfect tire for both street and dirt. You will either wear the tire fast on the blacktop, or not have traction in the dirt. Either you will have awesome traction off road, or take a chance on slipping on the streets (although that has never happened to me in 14,000 miles) I corner pretty hard in town, and if you look at my tires they are not worn flat, I get my money out of tires. I ride mostly streets and gravel roads and some off road trails. While the 606 is awesome off road, it does wear fast on the streets. I did have once a Kenda K270 tire, and rode about 50/50 street and dirt. I took it off after 5000 miles and it still has 40% of the tread left. It did fine off road, I mean again you wont be going through a 2 ft deep mud hole as well as a guy with a true knobbie, but it will get you there and back. I guess it depends on how often you want to change tires and how much you want to spend.

I'm running the Bridgestone ED03 and ED04 DOT knobbies. I got about 1300 miles out of the rear and it's about shot. I rode them on the pavement too much but they handle great on the road, on the gravel, on the singletrack, in the clay, but they kind of suck in the sugar sand and that's mostly because I'm running 18-20psi.
