Holy, I got the air box out (could they have made that any harder???) to check the vent hole. It looks fine. So, since I got the darn thing out, I guess I should look to see what mods you all do to the air box! Not sure how I'm gonna get it back in there! I finally just muscled it out. I did drop the bike 1-2 months ago in the dirt, but if the float stuck open, wouldn't there be other issues? The last time I rode it, it did act up, but it was well after I dropped the bike. About 2 weeks ago, when I would come to a stop, it would stall out and then not restart for several minutes.

if you pull the valve cover off just use some high temp gasket sealer on it and replace it, no need to get a new one. I had the same issue on my '09.
i have read that some folks are opening up the breather restrictor in the airbox, although i have not done this ,,,, yet. I get a little oil from the fill cap as well.
You shouldn't sweat it,, it's a dirt bike,, not a shiny sport bike..

Hmmm... w/ less than 1200mi when I pulled the valve cover upon trying to reinstall it was alot smaller and no way to reinstall it. No amount of silicone or super glue would hold it into position. I had to buy a new one, as I was stretching it to see if I could make it work then it snapped like a rubber band. A new one worked perfectly tho...

Spray the oily areas w/ contact cleaner or brake cleaner to see if it helps the dirt/oil build up. My wifes klx was doing similar.

Default KLX 250S oil seeping from head gasket?

I would appreciate some help. I have a similar problem to AGIRLS. I noticed dirt buildup around engine and cleaned it up, then found oil leaking from two black semi-circle rubber seals on the main engine. Pictures attached to post. The oil leaks only when engine is running. Clean oil is oozing out around the two black semi-circles. No leaking from other side of engine around the black gasket, or from oil fill cap.

I'm handy with lots of things but not motors. Is this a bad head gasket? I did think about whether the oil was over-filled and causing too much pressure.

Any tips on what I should do? Drain and add oil at the specified amounts (1.5 qts, 10W40)? 2400 miles, 2009 model purchased new in June 2008. Some off-roading on trails, and roads, but mostly street driving.

When you check the oil in the window are you standing the bike strait up and not leaving it on the stand. The problems your having sure look like an over fill situation.

When I've changed my oil it took less than the manual said to get it to a safe level by quite a bit.

That's not your head gasket, it's the valve cover gasket. It's simple to fix. Just have to take off the valve cover, clean the gasket area, put a little Permatex or other gasket maker on the semi-circles, and torque it back to specifications.

I had the value cover seal go just out side the 12 mouths. So I had to cover the cost myself ($240.00). That sucked!! I am waiting to see how long this one will last.

You've gotta be kidding! It's a simple job anyone with basic tools can do. If you had a dealership do it, you were robbed.

Had the same issue with my '09. The mechanic at the Kawi shop said it's because of the way the gasket is designed. I guess a lot of gaskets have a T shaped cross section, with a little bit on the bottom that fits into a groove and helps keep the oil in. The KLX valve cover gasket is just a flat strip that is sandwiched between the two parts and it's easier for oil to bypass it, especially at the semi-circles where the cams are. He used the black rtv silicone last time I had my valves checked and that seems to be doing the trick.
