Default 2009 KLX250S Oil Leaks All Seals

Hello, I am a newb on this site. I am on other forums so I know no one likes newb questions that was not properly searched first. I did search and did not find quite what I was looking for so if I missed it, please let me know kindly.

I purchased my KLX250 brand new in June 2008. Under warranty I had a fork seal replaced and a small oil leak. It is now out of warranty and I swear every seal on the engine leaks! All of my other bikes are sport bikes so I have no experience with dirt bikes and I just wanted to make sure if this was normal for this model or not.

Oh yes, and that oil filter sure was fun to change. I did see that thread and will have to try the tips that were in it.

What do you mean every seal? It shouldn't leak anything. hahaa

Be more specific or take some pics at least. The only seal I know that leaks on the 09's a lot is the valve cover seal. I guess it shrinks up and starts to weep. Other than that.....

Just the 09s have the leaky VC seal? Figures. None of my dirtbikes have ever leaked oil. Ever. I would investigate the crankcase breather hose to be sure that you don't have a blockage in that system which allows the pressure pulses to escape the crankcase.

I've attached 2 pictures that I took with my cell phone. I wiped down the side after the last ride so it is not as dirty as it usually is but there is plenty of other dirt to see. The valve cover is definitely leaking as well as other things. So I take it it is not normal.

Are you sure it's not coming out of your oil filler cap? Maybe that's loose and the oil/dirt is accumulating around the engine. Just a thought...

Correct, it is not normal for any modern bike to leak oil, from anywhere!

The oil also runs down the side (I had already wiped it - sorry) so I'll start with the valve cover seal and the o ring in the oil cap. Thanks!

Is the crankcase breather clear? Have you de-restricted it?

+1 what WEDGE said about too much oil and checking the crank case vent tube (not kinked etc) Have you gone over all of the bolts to make sure they are tight? (You don't want to crank them down too tight though).
I put a very thin layer of high temp silicone on the valve cover gasket (both sides) when re-assembling. Not one leak.
As others have said, thre engine should not leak at all.
