Good afternoon all,
I apologize if this has been covered, ai just want to make sure I am getting the right parts to make this tail tidy conversion.
I acquired an Edge2 for a 2008+ KLX, and I know I have some fabrication to make it work right, but I am unsure of the fender situation. I intend to mount the tail tidy on the rear rack bracket so that the tail light point upwards instead of further back on the bracket that supports the OG fender/light combo.
I have read that the Maier MX fenders will work with this set-up. I’m just making sure I have the right parts lined up since dropping a bunch of money for a piece of plastic is the most painful part of this process.
I am also open to suggestions. Thanks in advance! Current situation.
You tube vlogger Mr Duhfactor did a restoration on a 06-7 klx250s. Check out those vids for the Maier rear fender install.
Also check out this post as well good luck and keep your thread updated
Thank you, Race Gas!
I ended up notching the subframe and bending it up. That way, should I ever wish to return it back to the original fender, it’s reversible, and I don’t have to re-weld the entirety of the subframe. I also preferred this because the Edge 2 pointed down where it would have mounted to the rack cross member. It’s easier to see at car height. Also, I did not want to lose my rack support as I intend to put a new rack on it.
I still have to tack the notches, but it’s pretty solid as a basic support for the tail tidy. I ended up drilling my own holes to attach it to the fender support, and used a step bit to open up the turn signal brackets that came with the Edge kit.
