Default 2006-2007 KLX250S Radiator Guard / Brace

Hi everyone!
I've seen the UnaBiker radiator guard/brace and was wondering if that is our only choice?
Are there other brands out there?
Is there another bike model that can cross reference to ours?
Thanks.
Lauren.

Lauren,

Welcome to the forum!

I think that the UnaBiker guards are our only choice. They are of high quality and strong.

On the subject of bike protection, I'll also recommend the Utah Sport skid plate.

As far as I know Unibiker is the only radiator armor available to us.
And I'm glad that you brought it up ........
Since I had mine installed by Brian and Unibiker, I don't know where the normal placement of the ground wire for the fan is. Mine was put on the top guard mount. The only problem with that is that the guards are mounted on the inside with a rubber grommet. So therefor the ground wire for the fan is not grounding.
If your wire is mounted in that spot you will need to move it to a more suitable place. Double check this out. I ran mine for three months and didn't know about it. Just goes to show you that our fans don't need to run very much.

Welcome Lauren. Glad you found us, these guys will steer you in the right direction. Too bad your question wasn't about steering bearings that would have worked really well............as you were.[8D] Don't mind me I'm the weird Uncle that nobody wants to acknowledge.

vfrpilot,

I have mine secured to the top flange of the radiator (as it was originally), so I think it's getting the same quality GND as it was before installing the guards. Have you confirmed that it wasn't getting a good ground as the guards just wedge in between the inside radiator flanges and the frame so it uses the same mounting point to make a frame connection. I would think that as long as there is not rubber between the wire end itself and the radiator flange or radiator guard that it should still get adecentGND via the mounting bolt into the frame.

I am really curious now, I'll have to check with a multi-meter andmay have to move it..and now that I think about it, I have never heard my fan come on either..hmmmmm

Where you have yours is where I'm going to put mine. I did confirm the problem, it kind of scared me. I was running the engine after I finished installing the 331 kit and was just letting it run @ 2500 rpm forthe first 15 minutes. The shrouds were off but I had intentionally reattached the ground wire. at about 12 minutes into it the temp light came on and the fan still wasn't running, so I went to checking the conections and discovered the problem. All turned out ok, but I thought I'd give everyone a heads up.

Thanks for the reply.
So UnaBiker it is going to be.
I also noticed that with the UnaBiker guards, you don't use the stock plastic deflectors.

That's cool I suppose.
