2006/07 Clutch Cable Length

I need a new clutch cable as the existing one is worn. I'm pretty sure its the stock one, but there is a very unlikely chance the PO installed something else. Plus, I just put on bar risers with a little more rise than the prior ones. Now using 2" Rox pivoting risers (thanks Mark). There are many threads describing the KLX300 cable as being 2-inches longer than the stock KLX250 cable, but it looks like all of those comparisons are on 2009+ bikes. I'm looking at my old cable and it's 1-inch shorter than a brand new KLX300 cable (#54011-0009). So, if the KLX300 cable is 2-inches longer than 2009 KLX250 cable, and my 2006 KLX250 cable is 1-inch longer than the KLX300 cable, this implies that the 2009+ stock cable is 3-inches shorter than the 2006/07 stock cable.

Part numbers
2006:

54011 CABLE-CLUTCH
54011-0010
2009:

54011 CABLE-CLUTCH
54011-0093

Can anyone else verify this? Why would a 2009 clutch cable be shorter than the 2006, by apparently 3-inches?

Thanks!

Interesting. The '09 fork is about an inch+ shorter in travel, but technically that shouldn't affect clutch or throttle cable length as most/all of that should be below the stanchions if I'm looking at it correctly. Often these cable can be affected by instrumentation design to some degree, but I'm not sure how that would relate to the KLX's. Also a lot of people forget how handlebar width can affect cable length...not just bar height.

I'm still mystified about your TM36 throttle cable issue, Scott. Anything new on that front?
