Default 17" rear rim on a 2006

Ok if you don't ride on the street then you are not going to follow me

There are some better street tire choices if I were running a 17" rear wheel.
I am just wondering what I would need to fit a new SF rear wheel. Would that hub fit with my old style rear? Would it be easier to build a 17" wheel with another old style hub?

Any problems with this scheme. Gearing may change a bit but a 120/90/17 would be ok even if I had to go to a 15t in the front.

No reaming on me here for driving on the road

The SF wheel would bolt right up. However, there is some difference in brake rotor diameter, so you caliper mount may need some modification, or you may need to change rotors.

I have 17" rims on my 2006, they came off a d-tracker which is what they called the s/f in Japan. They bolted straight on without modification. Gearing on the d-tracker is 14 / 39

Was that donar bike a newer bike? I am not sure they offered the SF here before 2009. I have to check into the differences between the early and later model rears brakes (and S vs SF rear brakes)

Update: It looks like the later years (SF for sure) as a 240mm rear brake but the early S is a 220mm. I would have to get a new rear brake to make it work

It would be likely cheaper to build a 17" wheel.

Or you could look for a d-tracker rim like I suggested

Oh sorry I was not taking the hint. However, since it was not imported into this country I would have to have one imported from Japan or some place it was exported to. I don't think my dealer for instance could order it.

I bought mine off ebay. Try ebay, craigslist, forum for sale lists. Do I have to buy it for you and fit it?
