09 Just shuts off, anyone else have this problem?

Today sitting at a light, as I am increasing the throttle to start to pull out my bike died, display went blank. It did restart after cranking a few seconds and all my settings on the display reset, like the battery was removed. This is the 4th time it has happened in the last few months.

My bike is an 09 with 5700 miles, Fmf power bomb, powercore 4 pipe, dynajet stage 2. noting else done.

Bike has mostly hiway miles running @ 65ish

anyone else had or having this type of problem?

check ground connections ?

that is something that I didn't think about.

Mine did this a couple of times. I added a grounding wire to the rectifier, it's been perfect ever since....AND, the clock now keeps nearly perfect time. Coincidence?

I'd start by troubleshooting the dumb stuff first:
-battery terminals
-side stand switch
-loose connection in the kill switch

It does sound like a ground problem.

splicing the kickstand kill switch wires together (underneath the seat, towards the front) to disable it solved the problem for me...

That's always a good preventative thing to do even if you haven't had trouble with it yet...but...do the kickstand and clutch safety switches kill the display on the '09 and later models when engaged?

+1 on checking the battery terminals. I had a similar situation but my display was dead and no electric start. It would bump start though. Turned out to be loose battery cables. Sounds like a loose electrical connection of some sort anyway.

@TNC: "do the kickstand and clutch safety switches kill the display on the '09 and later models when engaged?"

No, they do not. If va09klx250s' symptoms include the display going blank, we can eliminate the clutch and stand kill switches as culprits.
