hey i was just offered a 1991 kl 250 witch i believe to be the same as a klr250 the bike has not been run in around 5 years but i can pick it up for $650 (maybe less) i know there were 2 owners of the bike and the last one just rode it around the house. i was wondering about some personal experience with a bike like this, power, handling how good it is for road use ext. all advice would be appreciated and just some general knowledge of the bike would be awesome.

Welcome to KF! If it has not been run in 5 years it may take a bit to get it going, keep that in mind when your laying out the cash for it. Check anything thats rubber or plastic for rot and anything thats metal for rust and replace anything that needs it, also replace all the fluids before starting it. If it was well cared for in storage you may have no problems, but dont be suprised if it takes a little extra cash to revive her. As for specific info on the KLR, you will have to wait for the moles to clean up. Good luck on the purchase/revive, and get some pics up.

Resurrecting the one you mention likely requires big-time carburetor cleaning and adjusment.

I own one myself a KLR250 it's a 96, they are great for on the road besides when it's windy but it's also a motorcycle the bike handles greatt and does not exceed 95 unless there is no wind but if it's been sitting for five years dont rush and try to start it take your time to look over it and clean the carburetor forsure and change things that are needed. Also a very good thing is you can still find all the parts for this bike at your local Kawasaki dealer such as "Kensports" got any questions let me know
