Hello, new guy with a stupid question about needing rear fairing
 

I have a 2004 KLR250...I think it looks much more badass without the rear fairings...I plan to travel alot! with all kinds of weather and all kinds of terrain...if I put dialectric grease on the battery and (what I suppose) is the voltage regulator on the right side, can/should I take them off?
