KX85 Rebuild
Hey guys, my girlfriend gas an old kx 85 sitting in her barn thats "broke"
she said she was racing one of her friends and she didnt know what gear she was in and redlined 2nd or 3rd. I told her to go get it and we will tear it down and rebuild it. EXCEPT ive never rebuilt an engine before. Im not an idiot, i know all the parts that are on dirt bikes and quads, but ive never opened one up, i take care of my **** so it lasts a long time for me. I need some guidance here guys. Where do i begin? Is it even repairable? i know you can buy top end rebuild kits here and there but is that what i need to replace? Do i need to do a Full Top and Bottom rebuild? im all questions. Thanks for your help.

I prolly would take out the plug, and check to see if the plug is covered in "something", ie metal bits, carbon, oil. Take your scope and check the piston top, then go from there to decide if it needs a compression test or not. At least by turning the engine over by hand, you will know if it is bound up or not as well.
