Can I use oil with API of SN in my 2004 KX250f?

Hi, I have been looking around the internet but nothing really talks about the API of oil. In the manual it says to use 5W-40 oil with an API of SH or SJ. I have some oil left over that is 5W-40 with an API of SN. If I pour that into my bike will it ruin anything? Thanks for any advice.

I've had the understanding that an API rating past (or further alphabetically) than the recommended will be o.k.
