Default A few days late...

A post I made on another forum on July 8th

Well......

I have been riding for 1 year and 1 day today. We decided to go to town and look around at garage sales for a cargo hauler. We went on our bikes because that is how we prefer to get around.

Was following my husband down one of the main thoroughfares and we were turning into a parking lot. Guess what? I got rear ended. I was just starting to turn when all of a sudden I was sliding on the ground so I let go of my bike. Luckily I did not hit my head since I chose to go without the lid today. I did get a little road rash on my left knee and my toe hurts really bad ($60 shoes are rather ugly now), my back is also sore but all in all I would say I was lucky other than my bike is f**cked up and had to be towed I hopped up and screamed "man I have only made 2 payments on it!"

Robinhood asked if I was alright. "Yes, but look at my effen bike!" He took off towards the car prepared to pull a guy out and whip his butt but it was a woman. She said "I'm sorry, I looked down at my cell phone and when I looked up I hit her". Mike then called the police. She was cited for inattentive driving and an expired driver's license. She did have a current insurance card. English was not her first language.

Several people did stop to see if I was okay which made me feel pretty good, including an ABATE person wanting me to join and the daughter of the chaplain of a local club here. He is still recovering from an accident he had recently. I thought that was cool that she stopped to check on me as I had never met her before. Our neighbor stopped, he ended up taking our son with him since my bike was unrideable And 2 people from work plus 2 people that witnessed the accident and said it was her fault!

So, now I am stuck with no bike to ride until mine is fixed. This is the first traffic accident my whole life, 21 years driving and no tickets or accidents until today. Happy effen birthday to me!

Holy crap! Glad that you are around to tell us your story! Lucky that you didn't hit your head.

Also glad to hear that your bike will be fixed, at no cost to you. Just remember, you've probably used up your good luck card - should wear your helmet next time - just in case.

Welcome to the forums and post up some pics when you've got the bike all fixed up. Would love to see them.

Wow! Glad there were no serious injury.

I was in Texas earlier this month and was tripping on riders with no helmets, please wear your helmet this could have turned out so much worse. Sorry for preaching and welcome to KF.

Thankfully, helmets are the law up here. There was a guy a couple weeks ago that had a major accident - I don't know how he managed to survive, considering his bike was in two pieces. If he had not have had a helmet on he would have completely lost his face, but thanks to the helmet, he only suffered some cuts and a bloody nose (the visor busted). No helmet, he More than likely would have died.
