Question 2009 Kawasaki KFX 90 - Help

Hi Everyone. I just bought my son, who will be turning 5 in January, a 2009 Kawasaki KFX 90. It will be his first ATV and while I am very good mechanically with Cars and Trucks, I have never owned an ATV, so its new to me. We couldn't afford to buy a new one, which is why we bought a used one. We didn't want to buy any chinese junk, even though a new one was about the same as we paid for this KFX 90. Overall it is in great shape for being a 2009. I paid $700 for it. What do you think about what I paid?

Anyway, I want to get it ready for him for Christmas. Here is some questions I have I hope ya can help me answer.
  1. The rear brakes are metal to metal, so I ordered new front and rear brakes (Front is drum and I can't see them, but I would imagine they are shot too)
  2. Chain was very loose. I tightened it up and seems good now.
  3. Oil was pretty dirty so I changed it and put in 10W30 synthetic
  4. What type oil does the transmission take?
  5. Cold start up, fires right up, when it warms up, it idles really low and will die. I adjusted the idle screw all the way in and it doesn't seem to make a difference. I put new gas in and seafoam. Not sure what else to do?
  6. I changed the spark plug.
  7. Does the coil need to be replaced since it is almost 10 years old?
  8. One of the rear frame caps (plastic plug that fills the open frame hole) is missing... Any ideas of where I can get one, and size?
  9. This thing, even with the throttle screw adjuster turned all the way in, it is still really fast. Is there any way to make this a lot slower or limit the top speed? I just don't want my almost 5 year old going way too fast.
  10. Any way to install LED headlight? Where would I tie into for power that is controlled with engine running? Would stator be powerful enough to run it?

Is there any other things I should check or look for? Maintenance?

Thank you!

About the only active discussions on this forum revolve around KLX 250S bikes. You may have better luck at this forum:

Kawasaki ATV and Mule - Kawasaki Motorcycle Forums

or this one is even more focused:

Rob, I DO NOT have a KLX 250S . Why do you post that same comment on anyone that has a KFX 90? Its not a motorcyle. Please stop.

Rob is correct and his replies are becoming annoying to be sure, but the KFX ATV does not have a large following on this forum. He did however give you links to other forums that may be able to help you.
Have you gotten the factory service manual for it? If not, then you need one. They are extremely useful.
Good luck on your project.

I think there was some misunderstanding in this and some other threads.
