Default 96 zx6e CARB PROBLEMS

my bike wont run very good... it always ran rich, and i seen that one of the pilot screws was way out of adjustment.. so i thought i would make them all even, about an even 2 1/2.. then i tried 3, and just 2.. and ive tried alot of things, and cant get it to run good again.... when i look at the carbs without the air filter on while bike is running, the hole that the jet needles are in, gas comes out of there a little bit.. and it floods the engine while idleling... any ideas?... float level is correct.. bike ran great before i messed with the pilot screw..
