96' 750 STS Issues with start, idling, and restart.
I recently bartered for a pair of pwcs. One is a 1996 Kawasaki 750STS. They guy I got from had never got it to start, without constant starter fluid spray. I replaced the universal Duralast automotive fuel filter with an oem filter. Changed the spark plugs. Removed the cylinder head. Cleaned cylinders and cover
Can't get it to start consistently. Revves up when you turn handlebars right. Idles pretty nice if you just let it sit, but will die out here and there. Like it's not getting fuel. I'm not a smart man, but I know how things work. Sorta kinda. Suggestions on why it revves when I turn handlebars? or why it will just die out?

I recently bartered for a pair of pwcs. One is a 1996 Kawasaki 750STS. They guy I got from had never got it to start, without constant starter fluid spray. I replaced the universal Duralast automotive fuel filter with an oem filter. Changed the spark plugs. Removed the cylinder head. Cleaned cylinders and cover. Then I saw the oil to engine line. Looked ,to me, that it had a kink right where it's supposed to curve downward. Took it off, realized I couldn't fix that and hold a finger on the oil tank nipple. Managed to cut right below the kink, and that sob would not, for the life me, go back on. Ended up taking the other end out from the engine to get the top on. And had a haul full of 2 stroke oil. 😅
Put everything back together. Sprayed a little starter fluid and she fired right up! Even idled real nice. Throttle up and down real easy. So, stopped the engine, gave it about 30 seconds and wouldn't start. Checked the plugs again. Made sure there were no leaks anywhere. A little starter fluid and fired up. A let it sit and idle, and would give a little gas here and there. Sounded good, then I turned the handle bars to it's right and it revved up to the point I got a little scared and pulled the key, and it kept revving! It stopped after I jumped off, ran and was damn near over the fence. With fire extinguisher in hand, I try and can't get it to start consistently. Revves up when you turn handlebars right. Idled pretty nice if you just let it sit, but will die out here and there. Like it's not getting fuel.
