'02 zxi 1100 hard to start cold

Just bought a 2002 zxi 1100 . Took an hour to start the other day. I milked the primer bulb excessively over and over but just won't start. Battery drains and I have to charge. Just about ready to give up on it but I pulled back on the gas and seemed to help started to cough and eventually started. Once it starts on land like that its good for the day and runs great. Just dosen't seem right that you have to prime it so much. I'm sure its hard on starter etc. New to jet skiing and would appreciate some advise.

allzxi's do the same thing ,allthough the 1100 cranks good w/primer but the 900 would rather kill the the battery than hit the water. ive found that the accellarater pump is much to blame on these. most people over look this prob. and look towards the carb in general. it takes alot to get fuel to that inline 3 thats why the pump is there . hope this helps-Apac.
