Default zx6r occasionally won't start, turn key off then back on problem.

Hello, I'm new here, I recently acquired a used 07 Kawasaki ninja ZX6r. So far I have done simple maintenance on it including replacing the battery. It's been working great except for one problem. Sometimes it won't start on the first try, I have figured out that by turning the key off then back on, it usually starts right up. I'm guessing it's the fuel pump, but I'm not sure, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Welcome to KF

Fuel pressure listings will be in your factory manual. My 06 manual states 44psi with the switch being ON.

Ok, so I don't think I actually need to check the pressure in the pump as I just realized today that sometimes I can't hear it priming. That corresponds with it not starting.

Edit: actually I suppose it could be the relay...

Sounds like you are on to it. check your relay box for the proper input and output voltages. I am not sure if it is easier to check it at the quick connect on the pump or not.

Can also be key switch or sidestand switch. Check your contacts for corrosion. Sometimes mine does that; consider it a "security feature."
