Wiring harness replacement

I recently acquired a project bike 2006 ZX6R USA with the fuel pump wire melted. The bike came with a replacement harness. All the connectors are exact fit except the fuel pump and a pigtail out of the ECU connector. My question is does anyone know the difference in these harnesses? is it a different year, country or size engine? here are a few pic.

why not just replace the one melted wire? I am not sure on the wiring harness question at this time.

Thanks for the reply. In addition to the melted wire they had a bunch of aftermarket lighting wired in. I ended up Wiring and a new connector.

Everything seems to work fine. I read somewhere that sometimes if you are removing the gas tank and the power is on it will short that wire on the positive battery terminal. Everything is running great now

I was looking at wiring schematics and I noticed the harness I have has 28 pin which is Australia Malaysia I believe. My original one had 26 pin which is North America. That would make sense that the only difference was the fuel pump

Congrats on the repairs and for the educational research. (I was looking at wiring schematics and I noticed the harness I have has 28 pin which is Australia Malaysia I believe. My original one had 26 pin which is North America. That would make sense that the only difference was the fuel pump).
I still like the blue color of the 6R's. Now I am getting the itch to work on one of my green machines....
Stay warm and Happy New Year
