whining gas tank

Default whining gas tank

so when ever i get done riding..even sometimes not..like today i went out and havent ridden since yesterday. so my gas tank makes this high pitched whining sound..

when i open the tank it stops..like maybe it has too much pressure and its escaping through the tank opening? any suggestions?

My bike does it too. I think it's just a valve to allow excess pressure to bleed off. Nothing to worry about. (As far as I know...I'm not an expert)

If you're riding (typically during hot summer months) and your bike dies for no good reason, remember this post and check your venting to your tank. And, if you have a dirt bike or ATV, the vent hose can stop you in your tracks if it's kinked or otherwise obstructed. (Try it; see how far you can get before it chokes out and dies.)
That whine is a good thing.

Hell the gas boils in my 14 on a super hot day after I have been riding the crud out of it. It also whistles or whines too.

That's the second time I've heard of gas boiling in a 14. That's a little scary. Can't say I've experienced that one yet.
