Default Vulcan 800 Carb Overflowing

Carb overflowing?? I bought a new OEM carb due to the fact that the old one was overflowing fuel out the air filter and exhaust pipes. Problem persists even with the new carb??? Also, the fuel valve does not have an "OFF" position??? Only "ON, RES. & PRI" (What is PRI....Prime?)and when is it used? This is a very dangerous situation for me. When I opened the old carb ,the rubber cone and related float parts were intact and no "smoking gun" was found. It was reassemled and installed and it still overflowed. Then I put on the new carb and it is overflowing. The entire fuel valve assemble has also been renewed. Anyone got any tips for me?

hmm, if the petcock has been rebuilt, I would look at replacing the carb float needle. Is the float sinking? full of fuel?
concerning the pri. Just that it bypasses the positions when the bike is not running and allows fuel to fill up the bowl.

So, it almost sounds like the fuel tap is in the pri mode, and the needle and seats are toast on your carbs allowing fuel to saturate/flood your engine. Get that fixed, replace oil and filter because of the gas contamination.

I cant remember but the fuel pet **** on the 800's might be vacuum operated and is probably not workin anymore. Whenever the bike is off, the petcock will be off cause it needs engine vacuum to turn the petcock on. Prime bypasses all those functions.
