vulcan 750 keep popping main 30 amp fuse
Hi all,
Here is my problem -- my wife's bike, a kawasaki vulcan 750 2004, had a battery that kept dyingon her. I've replaced the battery now it keeps popping the main fuse (30a).We can start the bike right up and it will run for about 5 minutes and then it dies and the fuse is popped.
I can't figure out what's wrong. Does any one know whatI can check for?
Thank you
Mike

RE: vulcan 750 keep popping main 30 amp fuse
did it do this prior to the battery replacement?
you can yank ALL the fuses and individually plug them in until one blows. this will indicate the shorted circuit. if the main blows with all the other fuses out, then the short will be between the main fuse block and battery, or on an unfused circuit.. (shouldn't be any, however..)
when does it pop it, anyways? instantly, when the key is turned on, when you go to start it?... need some details man!!
and welcome to KF!!!!!!

when does it do it tho?
key from off to on = pop?
key on, start button = pop?
just randomly = pop?
i'll need some pretty specific stuff to diagnose it, or at least point ya in the right direction.. remotely diagnosing electrical problems is a killer...

Had the bike running yesterday for about 20 minutes without the fuse popping. However, as soon as it was put into 1st gear and the clutch was starting to be released, the bike died and the fuse popped (again!!). It starts great every time and will run until you put it into gear and start to release the clutch.
Just don't know where to look for problems -- any thoughts? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike
