What are the A/F screws set at? What elevation are you?

ok on the special tool that you ordered. Normally a clear plastic tube works great for checking floats on most rides. But good to see you digging into the solution. Do you know if you may be flooding the ride? (The seats and float needles are hard and grooved?)

That was an interesting comment on the hardening fuel line from the above post.

Buy the sea foam gas additive that stuff works wonders. Will clean carbs good all lines good and pet cock. When you put the air filters back on I really hope you sprayed them with air filter oil this. Can cause problems.

Also two washers around the need jet isn't unheard of just odd most people would change them apon checking your floats check supper close for pin holes could be an issue also. DO NOT GET CARB CLEANER ON THEM OR ANY OTHE PLASTIC PIECES.

Also continuesly keep an eye on the coolant level and if it continues to go down maybe cracked or blown head/ head gasket I hope not though you will notice white smoke if that is the problem.

But my best guess is that the guy who put on the air filters and exhaust had no idea what he was getting into and didn't rejet the carbs. This is a good process as in it can really suck. But it will benifits you a lot and save your bike more problems later.
google
Dans motorcycle manuals
And find his carb page it's great and will get your foot in the door on carbs.

Welcome to the site btw and best of luck to you. The best thing to me about my bike is fixing it myself lots of pride under that tank keep it up.
