If it is cranking over, then your battery is fine. Most carbed bikes need to run choked for a few minutes until they warm up to operating temperature. What I do is start it choked, and while it is warming up choked, I gear up, attach my luggage (laptop bag under cargo net), etc... double check things like chain slack, tire pressure, etc... after those tasks (about 3 or 4 minutes total), then the bike is usually good to run. Slowly back off the choke and let it idle just a moment more without choke... then you should be good to go. First starts in the morning are usually the most difficult. Let it idle choked for a couple minutes and you will be fine.
As for seat removal - remove the rear seat, and inside the tray there is a pull-cord for the front seat. Pull and hold this cord while lifting the rear of the front seat. That should do it.

I believe in the 5 minute rule on start ups and warm up times.
My '90 starts up in a hearbeat, so kinda curious on the extra attempts in starting.

Thanks on all the info guys i did find the battery and also took the bike to Fun Machines aka the Stealership come to find out the battery was in the bike for over 8 months with min. cranks from the prev. owner, it looked so bad that there were spiders inhabiting the battery compartment with dirt and a couple of dead ants.
