well, I had run my '86 ZL 600 a while after cleaning the carbs out and changing the plugs. I noticed the plugs were fouled which helped explain some of the horsepower woes before I did the carb work. Well, after changing the plugs and running them for just a mile or two, they are fouling (i'm pretty sure, I didn't pull one out and check it yet, but I am pretty sure this is the problem>). It would seem that she's running rich. Anyone got any ideas or first things to check for me? I am pretty sure that I did all the carb work correctly and I'd hate to take those buggers off again, but I could if need be. I am thinking maybe a clogged air filter (I'll pick one up later this week, if I can't clean it out). Any other ideas?

what about the settings on carbs, maybe you just have to lean out the mixture a little.

:)ok that might be some of the problem, Please forgive me here, i'm new to wrench turnin'. well really, i'm just not very good. I could just about take a racecar apart, but the more technical stuff is beyond me. On the racecar we changed the jets to lean the car out. Are there adjustments that can be made? It's a Kehin 38 mm carb. During disassembly I didn't notice anything that could be adjusted (other than idle stops and such. (course that doesn't mean they weren't there.) I'll attatch a pic of the exploded view of my particular carb if that will help. Thanks

Hey sweety, First you need to get a service manual (if you don't have one already) Then you need to get a carb synchronizer kit which should cost about 40-45 bucks. The manual should tell you what to do. Otherwise bring it to a mechanic (which is your best bet) b/c for about 100-150 bucks they will check your valves and sync your carbs. There's no point in syncing your carbs unless you check your valve clearance. Hope this helps :D

Try any dealership. My husband got one for his 77 kz last year from a dealer by us:D

If your carbs have the stock jetting you will not probably have access to the air fuel mixture screws. You can still drill out the plugs to get to them just like you would if installing new jetting.
Did you check your air filter? Is it clean or if it is a K&N make sure its not over oiled.
You should have the valves check like shon has suggested.
Not sure where your from but try to find someone who can recommend a mechanic that they have been using for a while with there mechanic. DO NOT just assume that because it is a dealer they will do a good job. Good luck.
