Default Power Commanders

Forgive me if this topic has already been discussed or questioned.... but i must ask...

Are the benefits of a power commander really worth their $350 price tag?

I have researched a bit, and it seems they are useful in fixing up the fuel/air mixture for certain exhausts... apparently.

buy / don't buy ??

Depends on how you ride and what you want from your bike. If you are a racer (strip/track) I would likely recommend the purchase and use. If you are a commuter and weekend rider, wanting to maximize the motor, I'd probably not spend the money. When properly used, they can bring the best out of a bike. I've also heard horror stories of people who don't know what they're doing really making a mess of things. If you decide to purchase/use, just make sure you know what you're doing. Your call, and $.

A finely tuned package is so much nicer to ride than one that is not. But as mentioned, without the know how, things can lead to an unhappy rider with troubles.

They definitely are easier to load a map into than changing jets on my carburated bike if you are making performance mods.
