In need of Carb help for an 85 Ninja 600R

Hello everyone, I'm new here. I'm a newbie driver as well. Got my license in Sept. this year and put 1K seat miles this season.

I got my hands on a 1985 Ninja 600R, I have been lookin for specs on this and can't find it anywhere. It starts right up, it's got an aftermarket pipe and K&N pods, the owner said it has a jet kit installed. Now here's the problem

When Start it, it's fine but I can't give it any throttle coz it dies out. When it's warmed up it accels, runs smooth till about 6K but then boggs or starves and doesn't want to go. If I feather the throttle it will not bog, it will run smooth. I've taken the carb apart, it looks clean no varnish deposits. It doesn't have a fuel pump, which I found interesting, The petcock has a vac input and has RES, ON, PRI. Is this problem because of the wrong size main Jet installed or is there other stuff I should be looking at?

Thanks in advance.
