Default Lost my friggin keys

I just bought a used 2007 Kawasaki Vulcan and it came with 2 keys. Each of them had a little laminated tag on them. Fortunately one of the tags fell off the ring and I still have that tag and I think it may have a key code on it. The other key and tag is gone and I don't have a key code.

First, I'm wondering if anyone knows how to get a new key if you don't have the key code. And second I'm wondering if anyone knows what the two keys were for? One is obviously for the ignition. Is there a separate key for the gas tank or for locking the steering or something?

I'm a new rider so forgive me if some of the questions are dumb.

Thanks,
Ben

So you have zero keys, but only a tag? Two keys, one is just a spare. Take your tag with you to your dealer and have spare sets made up or some locksmiths will do this for you since the code on how to cut the key is on that tag. If you do not have the code, then a new cylinder with keys are the only option. Welcome to KF

Never apologize for asking a question, Ben. We do have "search" function, but hey; it's a FORUM.
I thought the Vulcans had a "sidebox" with a key lock. Honestly don't know if both are keyed the same or not. Agree with Drag^. Get thee to a dealer for a spare set.
Glad to have you on the site. Let us know what you find out!
Gear up; stay safe.

I believe Kawasaki does not give Curtis or other key machine makers any codes. I think if you go to a dealer with that tag you can get a key from Kawasaki. You may need to prove you own the bike, the code may be on the ignition or helmet lock as well.

Worse comes to worst, you get a lock kit from a salvage yard with the fuel tank cap/helmet lock/ignition/fork lock if applicable. I don't know if Kaw supplies that sort of kit or not.

Thanks for your help everyone. I ended up calling a local locksmith who came over and took the lock apart and made a new key for the lock. It was expensive, $125, but live and learn I guess
