Kz1000P won't crank
I have a 1995 KZ1000P with 93k miles. Sometimes the starter won't turn the motor over. Hot or cold makes no difference. If I put the trans in gear and rock the bike, it will crank and start right up. I usually work on antique bikes and this problem has me baffled. Any help from you late model mechanics would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You, Mike |
I would first test the kickstand safety switch....

Dear BigRig,
That switch was removed before I got the bike. Thank you for the input, and the quick response. Be safe out there, Mike |
Have you proven the starter motor? The Gear? the relay just clicking? Help me out brotha lol and welcome to KF. I have the 92 1k P model and manuals if needed.

Thanks for the input. The starter motor cranks great. When it won't start the relay clicks. After bumping the bike forward in gear it will crank and start. I suspect it might be the starter clutch.
Thanks, Mike |
