clutch slipping?

hey whats up all, Ive got a 99' zx6r and I having what I think is clutch issues. When i change the oil i see some shavings in it. (never big or long slivers) they are usually a goldish color. And arent the clutch plates usually a yellowish or goldish color? And another reason i think its the clutch is becaue i cant get the bike up in 1st gear w/o having to dump the clutch. And 2nd gear is out of the question, i cant get it 3 in off the ground. If anyone can help me out it'd be great.

thanks

Sonds like time to replace some clutch plates.

Post some pics in the DIY section if you Do It Yourself.

I personally have not had to yet but I will do it myself when it is time.

Ive replaced a clutch before on a dirt bike, so im guessing its about the same as a street bike.

about how long does the clutch last. or actually how many miles.. i know it depends alot on the rider, but just on an average....

RE: clutch slipping?

what brand of clutch is the best? vesrah? dp brakes? ebc? ive found them on dennis kirk from about 80-over 200. I just dont know what i need. Id rather not dump 200 bucks on plates i dont need, so the closest to oem would be the best.
