Blinker question on a 87 ninja
Hey guys, Ijust boughta 1987 kawasaki ninja with 21,000 miles. i gave 300 bucks for it, the guy didnt know anything about it i guess. i have a couple questions, but the most important i need topass my inspection!
what exactly controls the "blinking" of the blinkers? when i slide the switch left or right the blinkers just stay "on". i foung the solonoid the headlights and the blinkers work on(under the seat kinda and on the right hand side, in front of the brake resivor), but is that really what controls the blinking?

welcome to KF, if it's wired like the blinkers on a car check the net or a manual on the 'blinker relay' that's what controls the blinking.
i'm honestly not familiar with bikes yet but i'm sure it's the same with blinkers and the relay switch

thanks for the welcome!
its stock, as far as i know, but is apears to have been skidded a few times sideways, but then again for the price and miles i may buy new plastics to wrap it in!

Solenoid may be frozen in the closed position, but double check the wiring on all 4 turn indicators. It's possible you may be grounding out somewhere, in which case the bulbs will remain on. If it's been "skidded," the wires may be shaggy and touching something they shouldn't.
I am not sure on the
, never used the term solenoid as a relay I guess. But had something similar on my ride when I put the oem plastics back on. Had a continuous rear light on one of my rear sig indicators. Turned out to be be a bad connection on the molex. Unplugged, cleaned ie blew out, then firmly reconnected the molex. Is all it took for my situation of a continuous turn sig.
