Default Battery Charging?

How do I know if my battery is being charged? I have to keep putting a charger on the bike to get it started about every week or so. When I attach the charger it shows the battery only being at about 20% but I have 12 volts. After about 15 minuets, it is up to 100% and the bike starts fine.

While the bike is idling I get .8 amps and when I rev it to 3500 rpm’s I get 8 amps. This is with the amp probe on the + wire directly off the battery.

So can anyone tell me if my bike is trying to charge the battery and my battery is bad or is the bike not charging the battery and the something else is wrong.

The battery is about 3 years old.
The bike is 2000 R1

hey bro. are you using a digital meter or analog? cause the digital would be able to get you a better reading...... you should set your meter to volts.... then you'll know if the charging system is working.....

The best thing to do is just sell me the r1 cheap and let me put a new battery in it. I think me owning the bike would work out for both of us. cause now u wont have to worry about the battery charging anymore. sound good, good, u take paypal?
