Just reading through my Clyners and it says to soak my air filters in 30wt motor oil? ,I've never had to do this before,Why do the air filters need soaked? Please excuse the ingnoance

 

With foam or cotton based filters, the oil helps attract dust to the filter. Paper based filter elements don't need oil, and should never be oiled since the perforations in the filter are much smaller than foam or cotton. Paper would just become clogged up if you tried to oil it.
