86Ninja 1000R Temp Level Running Hot

I have an 86 Ninja 1000R that the temp guage shows it running to almost all the way Hot. It's not overheating, the fan motor works and I put on an alum. blade fan. Heat wrapped the header pipe, flushed the system (twice) and have been running it without the thermostat. It still shows it running hot! I read somewhere that there was a recall on that year bike due to the fact that the resistor wasn't strong enough for the guage? Has anyone else heard of this?? and if so, what size resistor is required to fix this problem?

Thanks to all how reply,
Robster.

Don't run the bike without the thermostat; it's there for a reason. Not sure on the resistor question.

Do you have a temp sender or sencor on your bike? If not, They seem to have some Info on that year at this place.

not sure on the resister, but since you flushed the system, you did verify the pressure test and of the pressure test of the cap?

Good call, Drag. Several posts ago, I included a "recall" link for a wide variety on 2 and 4 wheels. May want to check there. Or, just call a local dealer and ask about a recall on an '86 like yours. They doubtfully would fix it free, but might be able to tell you more details if there was such and what to fix.
Keep us up to date on what you find. It might help another rider.

Thanks all for your help. I asked the shop mechanic about the coolant sensor if a new one would make the difference or not. Problem is they only "heard" about the problem. They don't know how to fix the problem. I will ask my local dealer. I haven't had much luck working with them but I will ask....I will keep you all posted once I find out my next course of action. Thanks for your help guys.
