I took my bike apart to add a Power Commander V and have a bunch of parts chromed including the triple tree top clamp and the stator cover and now for some reason my bike is having a hard time charging. I started out from home at about 12.0 volts but when I got about 9 miles from the house it was at 9.8. Needless to say I needed up having to trailer it home. I have checked all the ground connections for the Power Commander and all the connections for the Stator and I could not find anything wrong.

Any ideas on how to get this fixed would be appreciated because I really want to get some riding time in before winter hits.

Backtrack to the install. Pinched wires? Loose connections? Remove the PC5 and see what you get.

 

I tracked back all the wires and found nothing and re installed everything and still had the problem.

I am in the process of taking the Power Commander off to see if that is the problem. I just did not know if there is some security thing that gets set when the ignition is removed and then reinstalled
