2000 zx12-r rebuild

Recently picked up the bike from a friend that had layed it down, i figured it would be a great winter project for me.. i took off all the busted fairings and got a better look at the motor its in great shape. However, the clutch cover is cracked and the radiator needs to be replaced.Since my budget is extreamly small I have decided to go with the "Street Fighter" look.. Im wondring if i can use a slimer radiator.

Welcome, DC. Your bike makes me nervous. ZX-12's are heavy. When they go down, they tend to hit pretty hard. Pull the clutch cover and take a GOOD look at that clutch basket for any sign of damage. As for the radiator.....yes; you probably could install a smaller one, but, your fan operation will be critical. Serious overheating does bad, bad things to an engine. Double-check the (steering) headstock for damage from the previous owner's crash. Make sure the bike is tracking straight.
Post up some pics. That might calm me down.... :D
Welcome again.

Thanks for your responce... The only issue the radiator has is a separation of the compressed nipple for the house on left side directly under the cap.... Its aluminum so I can't weld it... There is no doubt that the bike went down hard.... It seems to be tracking correctly but, its a concern for me as well. My goal is to have it ride ready in the spring...

I would not skimp to a smaller rad for this ride. Just my thinking on that.

Congrats on the new toy and welcome to KF
