Okay, I have a 2000 Kawasaki Bayou 300 4x4 that I just recently purchased. When the seller dropped it off, the battery was dead. We jumped it off and it ran okay but when you removed the jumper cables it ran poorly and all of a sudden it will not even start. Pulled carb and cleaned about 6 times before I went ahead and brought a rebuild kit and rebuilt it. ATV still will not start. ATV has fire when grounding spark plug to frame and when grounding a screw driver to the frame without the plug. The ATV is getting gas. I even sprayed starter fluid in it (through the carb and in the spark plug hole) to see if it was a fuel problem and it still would not start. I guess what I am trying to find out before I spend a lot of money on electrical components, does the CDI box sound like it could be the culprit. If you continue to turn the starter over, the ATV will backfire. I am thinking that it has something to do with timing (CDI box or Pulsar coil).
If anyone has any useful information, I would be most grateful if you would be willing to share it.
