2000/2003 klx300r idler gear problems
 

Hi all

I made a profile just to ask this question, brewster from thumper talk sent me here so we could figure this out.
THE QUESTION IS: Will the 2003 klx300r idler gear fit a '02 and below klx300r?
I have a 2000 klx300 and of course the idler gear is toast, all the searching and scouring lead me to believe the 03 gear is the remedy to the common issue. I just got the 03 idler gear and shims in from babbitt online, p# 59051-1400. It doesn't seem to fit though, its just way too big, all the forums I've looked through don't give me a concrete answer. And i cant tell if it was just the wrong part from them (before they sent me a throttle tube for 06 and up ninjas, and the bag said it was a 17mm cir clip, so they've sent the wrong part before) or does the 03 gear not fit, or is it missing a bushing?

I've waited on this gear to show up for 3 weeks and I'm worried if i put the 02 and below gear in it'll just do the same thing even though some have said the ACR mod fixes the problem. Pics below, and a link if those pics don't work since this doesnt seem to be working right on mobile.
